Cosmetic Allergy Testing

The method for skin allergy test for cosmetics is very simple. First, soak a piece of gauze with distilled water or saline, wring it until half dry, and fold it into 4 layers of about 1 square centimeter. Apply the cosmetics on one side of the gauze, and then apply it on the extensor side of the forearm or the normal skin of the back, then cover it with 1.5 square centimeters of airtight cellophane or plastic film and fix it with tape. After 24 to 48 hours of observation, if the test area is severely itchy or burning, it indicates that the cosmetic is irritating to the skin. This is a positive reaction and the test object should be removed promptly and rinsed with clean water. Experts from the authoritative anti-allergy expert network pointed out that if there are no symptoms at the test site, it is a negative reaction, indicating that the cosmetics are non-irritating to the skin and are relatively safe. If simple erythema and itching appear, it is weakly positive; if redness, swelling and papules appear, it is moderately positive; if significant redness, swelling, papules and blisters appear, it is strongly positive; if significant blisters or even necrosis appear, it is extremely strongly positive. If a positive reaction occurs, in addition to timely cleaning and treatment, it is also recommended that the cosmetics must never be used.

Through the above introduction, what should we do if we are allergic to cosmetics? We can follow the above methods. However, it should be noted that when using cosmetics, women also need to purchase them in regular places. In this way, no other problems will arise during the use process, which is very helpful for the skin.
