How are eye stones formed and how to prevent them

Many people hear about eye stones for the first time and are quite curious about them. How are eye stones formed? How to prevent eye stones?

How are eye stones formed?

1. The symptoms of eye stones mainly appear on the conjunctival surface inside the upper and lower eyelids. If it is a conjunctival stone, you can see that the conjunctival epithelium has symptoms of depression or protrusion after turning over the eyelids, and there are faint accumulations. If it is a stone in the later stage, there will be granular protrusions, some like broken rice, some are single dots, and some are densely packed. Usually in the early stage of eye stones, the position is deeper and will not have much impact. In the later stage, the raised small hard spots will cause discomfort and pain in the eyes, and you need to go to the hospital for treatment.

2. Eye stones are usually caused by eye inflammation. The specific cause of eye stones is that the epithelial cells wrap the inflamed mucus and compress it into the conjunctiva, gradually forming small lumps. Over time, eye stones are formed. The composition of eye stones is different from that of ordinary stones. It is not entirely calcium precipitates. It often occurs in patients with trachoma, chronic conjunctivitis, keratitis, etc. In addition, if you do not pay attention to eye hygiene, bacteria and foreign objects often enter the eyes, which can easily lead to the occurrence of eye stones. First of all, you should pay attention to the hygiene of your eyes, hands, and washcloths. Patients who wear contact lenses and cosmetic lenses must wash their glasses before wearing them each time.

How to prevent eye stones

1. Although there is no definitive conclusion on whether wearing contact lenses is related to eye stones, people who wear contact lenses must check whether they are suitable for wearing contact lenses, pay attention to regular disinfection and maintenance of the lenses, and check their eyes regularly. If any discomfort is found in the eyes, stop wearing contact lenses immediately.

2. Women should try to avoid heavy eye makeup. If necessary, you can apply a hot towel to your eyes or steam them with water vapor after removing makeup. This can relieve eye inflammation and reduce the chance of eye stones.

3. If the climate is dry, you can use some eye drops to moisturize your eyes, relieve eye fatigue and dry eye symptoms, and prevent eye stones.

4. Do not rub your eyes when they are itchy or feel like there is something foreign in them to prevent bacterial infection. When applying eye drops, keep your hands clean.

Okay, that’s all about the causes of eye stones. I think you all understand.
