Origim is working to identify toxic microbial components and antigens from bacteria that cause skin diseases such as acne. ORI-001 is a recombinant protein vaccine candidate for the treatment of acne vulgaris that entered initial clinical studies in the third quarter.

After this acquisition, Sanofi Pasteur will continue to implement its global "win-win" strategy, establish an industry-leading vaccine production line, and will strive to use vaccine technology to develop an immunotherapy for acne, which is expected to be put into clinical use in 2023.

According to the "Guidelines for Acne Treatment in China 2019 Edition", the average acne prevalence in the Chinese population is 8.1%, but more than 95% of the population will experience acne to varying degrees. Prior to this, according to statistics, the global annual demand for acne treatment drugs (approximately 19 billion yuan) could reach 1.87 billion pounds.
