How long can handmade soap be stored? What are the basic ingredients of handmade soap?

Handmade soap is a very common soap on the market. Because it does not contain any additives, it is safer than ordinary soap. So we need to know how long handmade soap can be stored? Can handmade soap kill bacteria?

How long can handmade soap last?

The shelf life of handmade soap ranges from 6 months to 5 years, depending on the formula. Store handmade soap in a dry, ventilated and cool place. This will effectively preserve the nourishing and moisturizing ingredients in the soap. Soaps containing citrus essential oils have a shorter shelf life, only about 6 months. If you don't need to use the handmade soap for a while, you can store it in the refrigerator to prevent it from deteriorating. However, do not store it for too long. A bar of handmade soap can be used for a maximum of one year. Handmade soap can be stored normally for three years without removing the film. If the film is removed, it is recommended to use it within one year.

Can handmade soap kill bacteria?

Handmade soap can be divided into different functions according to its ingredients, including sterilization, pore shrinking, cleaning and so on. Because its raw materials are environmentally friendly, they are good for the skin and do not harm the skin or the stratum corneum. Handmade soap often emphasizes that it retains the by-product of the saponification reaction - glycerin, and this "pure natural glycerin" is an important substance for skin moisturizing. However, after washing your face with soap, you will use clean water to wash off the soap bubbles. This process will also wash away the glycerin in the bubbles, so its so-called moisturizing effect may not be effective. The content of strong alkaline substances in handmade soap is often difficult to accurately detect, so it may not be a good idea to use it to wash your face. It is best to leave it for a while and use pH test paper to test the pH value of the handmade soap. You may drill a few small holes in different parts of the soap, take out the samples and dissolve them together before testing. This will be much more accurate than testing only one place.

What are the basic ingredients of handmade soap?

1. Palm oil: contains more palmitic acid, followed by oleic acid, linoleic acid and stearic acid. The amount of palm oil used is related to the hardness of the soap.

2. Coconut oil: It is solid at 28°C and also has soap base which mainly provides foaming power and cleaning power.

3. Olive oil: Olive oil has a low saturation level, so it is in liquid form - this type of oil is called soft oil, and it provides moisturizing properties.

Handmade soaps that feel more moisturizing to the skin have one more thing added to them: super fat. Super value can provide extra nourishment to the skin, and generally people choose better and more expensive oils. Common ones are: safflower seed oil, sesame oil, jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, evening primrose oil, etc. Then add various colors, such as carbon powder, matcha powder, and pigment to get colorful colors; then add various substances, such as Dead Sea mud, flower petals, loofah pulp, etc.; finally, use beautiful molds to make it.

Why does handmade soap have drawing

Because soap is rich in oils and fats with high oleic acid content. Pure olive soap, pure tea oil soap, or soaps made with large proportions of olive oil, tea oil, sweet almond oil, peanut oil and other oils are all easier to draw. Another common characteristic of this type of oil is its high oleic acid content. The higher the proportion of oleic acid content in a soap, the higher the silkiness of the finished soap will be. Soaps with high oleic acid content are usually associated with high moisturizing power, so their cleaning power is relatively weak. Therefore, brushed soap is a perfect fit for normal to dry and sensitive skin. Oily skin, combination skin, etc., due to their abundant sebum secretion on a daily basis, require a soap with relatively high cleansing power for daily cleansing, rather than a soap with high moisturizing power.
