The role and effects of hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is now a well-known skin care ingredient. Some skin care products contain hyaluronic acid. Some people may not know much about it. So what are the effects of hyaluronic acid? Friends who are interested, come and have a look!

The role and effects of hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronic acid, is essentially a mucopolysaccharide. Its content in a normal human body is relatively small, but its effect is relatively large. It mainly exists between the human epidermis and dermis, and promotes cell adhesion through protein binding. Hyaluronic acid is an excellent moisturizing product that has a good hydrating effect on aging skin.

What does hyaluronic acid do?

1. Moisturizing properties, helping the skin stay hydrated and elastic: Hyaluronic acid is produced by cells in the dermis, where it locks in moisture to maintain skin hydration. When applied topically, the same moisture-locking effect can be used to keep the stratum corneum (skin surface) flexible and plasticized. Half of the hyaluronic acid in the body is found in the skin, where it locks in moisture and maintains barrier function.

2. Antioxidant properties help slow down signs of aging and prevent free radical damage: Hyaluronic acid has been shown to be a particularly effective antioxidant that can protect skin lipids (free fatty acids, etc.). Hyaluronic acid also enhances the activity of other skin antioxidants.

3. Anti-glycation performance: Hyaluronic acid can prevent the destructive effects of sugar. "Glycation" is the main cause of human aging, including wrinkle formation and skin thinning. Supplementing with hyaluronic acid may be particularly helpful for diabetic patients. For the dry and aging skin that diabetics are prone to, applying it externally along with oils containing squalene can help improve skin function and prevent dryness and breakage.
