What are the treatments for melasma?

Everyone is familiar with chloasma. Chloasma has a relatively high incidence rate in life in recent years. Suffering from chloasma makes every female friend sad. Therefore, many patients are also concerned about the effective treatment methods for chloasma. So what are the treatment methods for chloasma?

What are the treatments for melasma?

1. Topical retinoic acid cream. Use 1 to 2 times a day. It has a depigmenting effect and it is best to use a low concentration of this cream at the beginning. Then you can gradually increase the concentration. But it can also cause side effects, mainly dry skin, scaling, and some irritation. This drug is often used in combination with other depigmenting agents, such as compound retinoic acid cream and arbutin, which can inhibit the activity of tyrosinase and reduce the production of melanin.

2. When you go out, you can apply sunscreen, such as para-aminobenzoic acid and its esters. When using it, you should be careful to prevent allergic reactions.

3. Topical corticosteroids. Stronger preparations, such as clobetasol, can be taken 1 to 2 times a day. However, long-term use can easily cause side effects, and local skin atrophy and capillary dilation may occur. Moderate-acting corticosteroid preparations, such as hydrocortisone butyrate, can also be used for treatment with fewer side effects.

4. For those whose pigments are in the deeper dermis and the effect of external depigmenting agents alone is not significant, chemical peeling is generally used. Because high concentrations of fruit acid are irritating to the skin. If trichloroacetic acid is used, clean the face and use degreasing agent before peeling. After applying trichloroacetic acid, leave it on for 1 to 2 minutes, rinse thoroughly with cold water, and then apply 1% hydrocortisone ointment.
