Will frequent sun exposure cause wrinkles? Ultraviolet damage to the skin

When we were young, we all heard the story of Houyi shooting down the sun. There were originally ten suns in the sky, and they took turns working, so it was daytime all the time on Earth.

Will frequent sun exposure cause wrinkles?

The study was conducted by the School of Health Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. The most dangerous part of sunlight is ultraviolet B, the academy says. UVB has a relatively short wavelength and is the main cause of skin tanning. If exposed to UVB for a long time, UVB will affect the human immune system and eventually cause melanoma, basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.

According to Taiwan’s United News Network on the 8th, not applying sunscreen and staying in direct sunlight will cause wrinkles, but those who wrap themselves tightly while driving or sitting indoors may be surprised. Studies show that ultraviolet rays can penetrate glass, causing wrinkles and making people look older.

Research from the University Hospital of Besançon in France shows that the ultraviolet rays formed by the sun shining through glass may, over time, make the half of your face that is more exposed to the sun look seven years older than the other side. Even on a warm April day, sitting in a car for hours can cause skin damage.

UV damage to the skin

Glass can block UV rays, but about 50% of the UV rays associated with aging or sunburn can penetrate the glass and reach the human body. Dermatologists and photobiologists warn that skin exposed to UV rays every day may age more than twice as fast as skin that is protected from the sun. These wrinkles tend to be deeper around the eyes, nose and mouth.

The research team has proven that for female office workers or drivers, the side of their face that is often exposed to the sun will age faster than the other side, even if protected by glass.

"What we need to change over time is the idea that UV damage is present all year round, not just in the summer," said Hawke, professor of skin photobiology.

It can be seen that the damage caused by ultraviolet rays threatens our skin all the time. If you want to have beautiful skin, in addition to daily care, you must also pay attention to sun protection. It's not just about sun protection in summer, you should pay attention to sun protection all year round. Also be aware of indirect sunburn, which is the sunburn through glass mentioned above. In short, skin care is not a matter of overnight, it requires our long-term persistence.
