People with oily faces are less healthy. What misunderstandings have you fallen into?

What should I do if my face is always oily? Especially as the weather has been getting hotter and hotter these days, people with oily and acne-prone skin really can’t afford it. According to recent news data, people with more oily skin are less healthy than those who do not often have oily skin.

People with oily faces are more unhealthy

Among common skin types, many people would think that oily skin is the worst, looking rough and prone to acne. However, compared with dry skin and sensitive skin, oily skin is less likely to develop dry lines, fine lines, wrinkles, spots and allergies, and has good tolerance to skin care products. Oily skin is easier to take care of than dry skin and sensitive skin. As long as you do a good job of oil control, you can get better and more durable skin.

Before the day was halfway through, my entire makeup was smudged, and my entire face looked like a giant oil field, glittering. It’s all because of oily skin. The conditions of oily skin are not all the same. They can be roughly divided into four types, and the focus of skin care is different in different conditions.

The four types are:

1. Oily but not dehydrated skin: characterized by oily face and enlarged pores, but no other symptoms. For this type of oily skin, the water content of the skin is normal, and the oil secreted on the skin surface can prevent water loss, so there is no need for excessive moisturizing and reject overly moisturizing products. Excessive moisturizing may cause burden to the skin and risk acne. The key points of skin care for oily but not dehydrated skin are: cleansing, oil control, moderate exfoliation and sun protection.

2. Oily but not dehydrated skin: It is characterized by an imbalance of water and oil, where water cannot be retained on the face, accompanied by symptoms of oily exterior and dry interior. In severe cases, peeling may occur. The key to skin care for this type of "oily on the outside and dry on the inside" skin is: not only pay attention to oil control, but also strengthen hydration. You can refer to the care methods for combination skin.

3. Oily acne skin: characterized by oily face, pores, blackheads, and acne, most of which occur during adolescence. This type of acne is caused by clogged skin pores and oil accumulation. If the condition continues to worsen, the hair follicles will rupture, the inflammation will spread to the dermis, the skin tissue structure will be destroyed, and collagen will be lost, which can easily leave acne marks and scars. The key points of skin care for oily acne skin are: cleansing, oil control, and anti-inflammation to prevent the inflammation from getting worse.

4. Oily acne skin: characterized by oily face, large pores and acne. There are several types of acne, ranging from mild to severe: whiteheads ("closed comedones"), blackheads ("open comedones"), papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. It starts with one or two minor pimples and gradually develops into severe acne. If it is not handled properly, it will cause other complications, such as pit-type scars, hypertrophic scars, etc. The key points of skin care for oily acne skin are: cleansing, oil control, anti-inflammation, and preventing the formation of scars. Although the most fundamental cause of oily skin is excessive oil secretion by the sebaceous glands, it still requires a specific analysis of the specific situation. Do not cleanse blindly, do not control oil blindly, do not exfoliate blindly, avoid skin redness, peeling, and aggravated inflammation. In addition, you can also place your fingers on the wings of your nose or cheeks and gently push upwards. If fine lines appear, it means you are dehydrated and need more water.

What misunderstandings have you fallen into?

1. Oil production is caused by lack of water

I believe many girls have heard salespeople in beauty salons and stores say that oily skin is caused by dehydrated skin and that they must apply a facial mask every day. If you apply a facial mask every day, your skin will definitely have problems with overhydration. Adding too much water will make your face more oily. Oily skin is mainly caused by increased temperature, which will increase the skin's oil secretion, and when the skin barrier is damaged, the skin will produce oil to protect the skin.

2. Excessive cleaning

Some girls with oily and acne-prone skin like to over-cleanse their faces. They want to have no oil on their faces, so they wash their faces many times a day, or use some exfoliating facial cleansers, plus a facial cleansing device. It should be known that oil is not completely useless and can protect your skin to a certain extent. Over-cleaning will damage your skin and easily turn it into sensitive skin that is oily on the outside and dry on the inside.

3. Pursue freshness without sun protection

As the temperature rises, the face tends to feel greasy. Girls in particular sometimes go out in pursuit of a fresh look without even applying sunscreen. We should know that ultraviolet rays are very harmful to the skin. Without sunscreen, even skin care products will be useless. As long as you choose a sunscreen product that suits you, girls with oily and acne-prone skin will not have an oily face even after applying sunscreen. Be sure to wear sunscreen when going out.

How to properly care for oily skin?

1. Use foam cleanser for gentle cleansing

Because oily skin is more likely to produce oil in summer, some girls with oily skin like to use cleansing products with strong cleaning power, but they are really not suitable for daily use. Not only do they take away moisture from the face, but they can also easily become allergic. It is recommended to use foaming amino acid cleansing products to get gentle cleansing. If the face is not too oily in the morning, you can use warm water to wash your face.

2. Wash your face with hot and cold water

First wash your face with hot water to open the pores, clean all the stains in the pores, and try to control the water temperature at around 40 degrees. When washing your face with hot water, you should use facial cleanser, soap and other cleaning products. Note that you should not use them when washing your face with cold water. It is recommended to wash your face in this way at least twice a day, morning and evening.

3. Pay attention to sun protection

As a delicate girl, sun protection is something you have to do all year round, not to mention the summer when ultraviolet rays are so strong. Girls with oily skin must remember to apply sunscreen at the last step of skin care. Don’t skip it just because you feel greasy, otherwise your skin will easily get darker and older. You can choose some sunscreen that suits you, preferably a relatively refreshing one with a high SPF.

4. Change to light oil and more water-based skin care products

For girls with oily skin, the skin does not produce much oil in winter, but it is not as oily as in summer. In winter, the skin care products need to be updated. You need to switch to light oil and more water skin care products, so as not to burden your skin. You can use moisturizing and refreshing lotion products. As for facial cream, you don’t need to buy lotion and essence in summer.
