Washing your face is something you have to do every day. Your skin still needs to remove some dust. Should you use a towel or your hands to wash your face?

Whether to use your hands or a towel depends on the condition of your skin's stratum corneum. If you have a thick stratum corneum and healthy skin, there should be little difference between using your hands or a towel. If you have oily skin and your face is covered in oil and dust, then gently scrubbing with a towel will definitely be more effective in removing dirt. If the stratum corneum is thin and the skin is sensitive, rubbing it with a towel may damage the stratum corneum, which would not be worth the effort.

Is it better to wash your face with hot water or warm water?

Some people say that washing your face with hot water can open your pores, making it easier to remove dirt from the pores and making your face cleaner; others say that washing your face with cold water can shrink your pores and make your skin more delicate.

However, both hot and cold water will stimulate our stratum corneum and subcutaneous capillaries. Using hot or cold water to wash your face for a long time will make your skin fragile and even cause red blood streaks.

It is best to wash your face with warm water close to body temperature, which will not irritate the skin, nor take away excessive oil from the face. It can also be used with a facial cleanser to wash away excess oil.
