What is the difference between lotion and toner? What is the difference between lotion and toner? Which one is suitable for different skin types?

When I was watching the backstage recently, I found that you can’t tell the difference between skin care products and don’t understand many basic questions. If you just want to take care of your skin or have been using toner for so many years and don’t know the difference, then you can continue reading. What is the difference between toner and lotion?

Is it necessary to use cotton pads to apply lotion?

Usually the use of toner can be divided into two categories, one is to wipe with cotton pad, the other is to use directly with hands.

In fact, neither of these two categories is necessarily good or bad, and both have their pros and cons.

The best advice is to use cotton pads for cleansing or exfoliating treatments, and use your hands directly for nourishing products or those with more active ingredients.

How to choose the right lotion for yourself?

Nowadays, there are more and more lotions with various functions, various brands and various functions.

In fact, skin care products are a personal matter. Here are some suggestions for how I usually choose toner:

(1) Look at the brand: Products from big brands are always safer than products without any quality assurance. Students with sensitive skin can also choose brands that focus on sensitive skin.

(2) Look at the efficacy and skin type: For example, Dr. Ci:Labo's pore water is suitable for oily skin that needs exfoliation, and MUJI's high moisturizing water is suitable for medium to dry skin;

The same lotion may also be divided into refreshing type and highly moisturizing type. Based on understanding your skin type, choose the one that suits you.

What is the use of lotion?

In the formula of lotion, 80 to 90 percent is water, and the rest is moisturizers or functional ingredients, as well as selectively added alcohol, preservatives, fragrances, colorants, etc.

The biggest role of toner in the skin care process is to connect the previous and the next. When you just wash your face, the pH value on your face is usually a little higher.

At this time, use lotion to moisten the stratum corneum and quickly adjust the pH value to a natural acidic state. This can also promote the absorption of subsequent products and make use more comfortable.

Although it is not as moisturizing as cream, and not as effective as essence, it still has some auxiliary effect.

Are you asking me if it is necessary? It actually depends on the individual situation.

If your own stratum corneum is well hydrated and you feel comfortable applying essence or cream directly, you don't need to use toner. If you feel more comfortable with a primer, then use toner. Don't limit yourself to too many skin care rules.
