How do blackheads on the face come from?

What are blackheads?

Blackheads, also known as blackhead comedones, are open comedones (the surface layer of the sebum that clogs the pores is directly exposed to the outside and comes into contact with the air and dust in the air). It is caused by the oxidation of skin oil in the air, which makes it smelly and black.

Blackheads are common on the face, chest and back, especially on the nose. They are characterized by black spots in significantly enlarged pores, which look like small worms when squeezed out and have black tips.

How are blackheads formed?

Blackheads are mainly composed of a kind of "plug"-like substance composed of sebum, cell debris and bacteria, which blocks the opening of the hair follicles. Combined with dust, dirt and oxidation in the air, the end that contacts the air gradually turns black, hence the inelegant name - blackhead.

Blackheads are hardened oil blockages that usually appear on the forehead, nose and other parts of the face. When the oil glands are over-stimulated and the pores are filled with excess oil and become blocked, the nose and the surrounding areas often feel greasy.

These oils eventually harden and oxidize to become tiny black dots, which are the oil blockages called blackheads.

Why do blackheads occur?

  • Sun exposure

Excessive exposure to the sun can cause abnormal metabolism of epidermal cells, loss of elasticity of connective tissue, and larger pores. Sunlight is the biggest killer of skin aging.

  • Improper use of skin products

Excessive sebum secretion, clogged pores and other phenomena are often caused by using incorrect skin care products.

  • Over-cleansing the skin

Cleansing the skin too vigorously can make the skin tight, dry, and peeling, and even cause some small flakes. This can easily cause our skin to have abnormal keratin metabolism or aging, causing greater damage.

  • Squeeze pimples and blackheads

When pimples appear on your face, you may feel great about squeezing them, but it is possible that the bombs will be successfully expelled temporarily, but it is more likely that these bombs will explode when you squeeze them, leaving indelible scars.
