What causes spots?

What causes spots? Many women, especially middle-aged women, are often troubled by pigmentation, chloasma and other problems. They try to remove spots every year, but they still get spots every year. First of all, we must understand the factors that cause spots.

What causes spots?

Five major causes of spots

Genetic factors

Due to family heredity, some women have hormones that contain unusual amounts of macular matrix pigment.

Skin pigmentation

As the amount of melanin in the body gradually increases, it accumulates in the basal cells of the skin. This melanin is derived from tyrosine and is oxidized and polymerized under the catalysis of tyrosinase. Its number, density and distribution vary greatly among different races, individuals and parts of the body. A person's face, back of hands, head, neck, and armpits are slightly darker than other parts of the body, indicating that there is more melanin in these areas. Acid-base imbalance: When the acidity of blood in the human body is high, blood circulation will weaken, the process of cell metabolism and life functions will be hindered, melanin cannot be metabolized normally, causing melanin to gradually accumulate, thus forming dark spots on the skin surface.

Endocrine system

Pigment metabolism is closely related to the body's endocrine system. For example, when women have poor liver and gallbladder metabolism, gastrointestinal dysfunction, or adrenal cortex insufficiency, their skin will be darker. Some women will have facial pigmentation due to ovarian dysfunction and menstrual cycle disorders. During pregnancy, changes in hormone levels in the body will also stimulate the secretion of melanin.

Mental stress

Once some women are under heavy mental stress, their autonomic nervous function will be disturbed, blood circulation will slow down, causing skin metabolism to become sluggish, melanin to gradually precipitate and form pigmentation spots. For example, when people are under increased psychological stress, acne is particularly prone to appear on their faces. The black marks left by acne are slow to fade and accumulate under the skin, turning into spots.

Pathological factors

Visceral dysfunction, such as lupus erythematosus, chronic alcoholism and other diseases will cause spots on the face; chronic gastrointestinal diseases, tuberculosis, will cause chloasma on the face; people with liver dysfunction will not fully decompose nutrients, and the skin cannot excrete toxins, which will increase the estrogen content in the blood, thereby stimulating the formation of more melanocytes.

Knowing the above factors that cause pigmentation, we can try to avoid these situations in our lives.

It is not difficult to see that freckles are caused by more complex factors and they come from the inside out. Nowadays, many people often make some misunderstandings or even some taboos in the process of freckle removal, which have become the norm. They are very harmful to the skin and even the body, so we must avoid them.

Four major misunderstandings

Myth 1: Frequent exfoliation promotes skin breathing

I heard that sometimes facial spots are caused by the excessive thickness of the stratum corneum of the facial skin, so many people choose to exfoliate frequently, thinking that this will allow the skin to breathe more freely.

The keratin of the skin plays a very important role. It can block sunlight from damaging skin tissue, prevent foreign toxic substances from invading the body, effectively prevent the invasion of some microorganisms and bacteria, and resist external stimuli such as wind, sun, and rain. However, if you exfoliate frequently, it will go against the natural metabolism of the skin. After the skin loses the protection of keratin, it is easy to develop contact dermatitis and the bacterial infection rate will also increase relatively.

Myth 2: Homemade facial masks are good for your skin

Many girls think that using homemade facial masks made of vegetables or fruits to remove freckles is both economical and natural and will not cause any side effects to the skin.

The phenomenon of homemade facial masks is quite common on university campuses. Many people have misunderstandings about this and believe that pure natural fruits and vegetables will not be harmful to the skin. Experts believe that certain foods can indeed have the effect of whitening and removing spots when applied to the face, but the facial skin's ability to resist the external environment will vary in different seasons. Especially when the seasons change, the skin barrier function will be greatly reduced, and skin allergic reactions are more likely to occur at this time.

Myth 3: Whitening and anti-freckle products can quickly remove freckles

To remove freckles, of course you have to use whitening and freckle-removing products. The products in advertisements seem very attractive, so you change bottle after bottle, brand after brand, hoping for a quick-acting whitening and freckle-removing product. You hope your skin can be instantly whitened and freckles can be removed without a trace. It seems that only this level can be considered an effect. Little do you know that this concept is very wrong. It ignores the physiological structure of the skin and often leaves endless hidden dangers. For example, skin replacement, which was once popular, is now regretted by everyone, and the originally healthy skin has been damaged.

Myth 4: Eat all kinds of vegetables

Many people believe that all vegetables are good for the skin, and that facial spots are caused by eating too much meat. To remove facial spots, one should eat more vegetables.

Eating more vegetables is indeed helpful to our body, but some vegetables should still be eaten with caution. For example, celery, coriander, white radish, etc. are all "photosensitive" vegetables. These vegetables make skin prone to spots more likely to develop spots. You should eat more vegetables and fruits that inhibit pigmentation and make your skin whiter, such as kiwi, strawberry, tomato, orange, cabbage, cauliflower, etc.
