Primrose Garden Toner vs. Barley Water: Which Toner is More Cost-Effective?

Primrose Garden Toner vs. Barley Water: Which Toner is More Cost-Effective?

Winter is here. If you want to maintain hydrated skin, hydration and moisturizing are the key, and the choice of toner is also particularly important. And whether it is skin care or makeup, the most basic step is to use lotion. Only by choosing a cost-effective lotion can the skin absorb it better and the base makeup fit more closely. The editor selected the Chinese products Primrose Garden Toner and Japanese Barley Water, which are of the same price, for comparison to see which product is more cost-effective!

Primrose Garden Toner vs Barley Water

It would be remiss of me to review my skin without talking about my skin type. Let me first talk about my skin type – combination oily in the summer and combination dry in the winter. I have larger pores on the wings of my nose and cheeks, and I have more blackheads and acne. My skin is more sensitive during the change of seasons. Let’s get to the point:

Japanese Barley Water

This product is cheap and has a good reputation. It has a light texture and a slightly off-white color. Barley water has a good moisturizing effect. Every day, I soak a compressed paper mask with lotion, stick it on my face, and then use a spray bottle to spray lotion on it until it is almost dripping. After ten minutes of wet compress, my skin became very hydrated, and I didn't find any peeling on my face when I woke up the next morning.

However, this water contains alcohol, so it has a pungent smell and is more irritating to the skin. When I first used it, my facial skin felt a slight tingling and burning sensation, especially on my cheeks and nose wings where the pores were large, where the pain was more obvious. It is said that this barley water also has the effect of whitening, but the editor tried it for a while and there was no obvious effect. However, for such an affordable product, don't be greedy and think it has too many uses.

Although this water has a good moisturizing effect, it contains alcohol and has a really unpleasant smell. Girls who pursue fragrance are advised to use it with caution. In addition, it is quite irritating and not very friendly to sensitive skin. People with sensitive skin should avoid buying it.

Primrose Garden Toner

This new domestic product is the first time I use it after it was recommended to me by someone else, and the effect is surprisingly good. The texture of this water is not very thick, and it does not feel greasy on the face, but it is very moisturizing. After using it, the editor found that the originally tight skin relaxed and remained smooth. Its fragrance is not strong, it has a light natural fragrance and smells very fresh.

I wet a cotton pad and apply it on my face every night. It feels very silky and my pores can breathe freely without any sense of restraint. Moreover, this water does not contain alcohol and is gentle on the face without any stinging or heating phenomena. The next day after the wet compress, the skin is still very clear. But what surprised me most was that this water has the effect of tightening pores. I tried it for more than ten days. Although the pores were not completely improved, they did shrink a lot. Moreover, I no longer have frequent breakouts and blackheads. It seems that this water has a good calming effect.

Compared to Japanese barley water, Primrose Garden Toner does not contain alcohol, so it is non-irritating and can be used safely by people with thin stratum corneum. However, Job's tears contains enough moisture and is more durable than Primrose Garden Toner.

Summarize

These two lotions have their own advantages, and the choice depends on personal preference and skin type. However, if you have sensitive skin like me, I would still recommend our domestic Primrose Garden Toner. I hope today's article can help you! I’ll review more products for you in the future, but that’s it for today!
