Can the primer be used in the second year? The correct way to use the primer

We know that all products have a shelf life, and using them within the shelf life can ensure the product's efficacy and quality. However, the shelf life on many cosmetic packaging actually refers to the shelf life of the product before it is opened. So, can the primer that was opened last year and not finished be still used?

Can the primer still be used in the second year?

It is best not to use it. Generally, the shelf life of cosmetics is 3 to 5 years. Although the date written on it is the expiration date of the cosmetics, that is when the package is not opened. If it has been opened, it is best to use it up as soon as possible and not leave it until the deadline. That will be bad for your skin. Although it is okay to do so occasionally, it will not be good for your skin if you continue to do so in the long run.

Can the primer be used in the second year after it is opened? It depends on the following situations

1. If the isolation cream is a purely physical formula, which contains substances such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, then this bottle of isolation cream can still be used in the second year. Because the physical components in the isolation cream are relatively stable, it can be used for up to three years.

2. If the isolation cream is a purely chemical formula, and contains substances such as benzophenone-3 and octocrylene, then this bottle of isolation cream should be used up as soon as possible after unpacking. If there is any left this year, do not continue to use it next year. Because these chemical ingredients are prone to deterioration after being exposed to air and light, if they are used again, they will affect the health of the skin.

3. Whether the isolation cream can continue to be used in the second year depends on the expiration date marked on the bottle. If it says on the bottle that it can be used safely within three years, it means that the primer can still be used in the second year. If the bottle says it can only be used that year, then you'll have to give up the rest of the sunscreen. Of course, if you are reluctant to use the remaining primer, you can also use it on your arms and thighs. Relatively speaking, the skin in these areas is not that sensitive. Although the shelf life of general cosmetics is 3 to 5 years, it is still best to use them up as soon as possible.
