What to do after sun exposure

Although we remind everyone every day to remember to wear sunscreen when going out, many people still forget to apply sunscreen. Sometimes, even if they apply sunscreen, they will still get sunburned if the sun is too strong. So what should we do after being exposed to the sun?

What to do after sun exposure

After sun exposure, you must immediately hydrate and moisturize your skin. There is plenty of sunshine in the summer, and people are easily exposed to strong ultraviolet rays for a long time when they go out, which can cause damage to the skin. It can cause human skin cells to lose a lot of water and become dry, lose moisture, and develop wrinkles. Some people may also develop solar dermatitis. If not properly handled, dark spots can easily form, affecting skin health.

The dangers of prolonged sun exposure

Areas exposed to sunlight for a long time will become itchy. The longer the exposure to the sun, the more severe the allergic reaction will be. The skin itching may last for 24 to 48 hours, or even longer. The local skin will produce wrinkles, pigmentation, cell damage, redness, burning, heat, pain, and sometimes even blisters. After several days of exposure to the sun, the skin will begin to peel and gradually turn dark. In severe cases, sun spots may occur.

How to deal with sun exposure

Step 1: Calm and soothe

First, remove yourself from the sun and place yourself in a cool and ventilated place. After your body temperature drops, start applying wet compresses. Because the body temperature is too high and is in a hurry to cool down, the skin may become allergic due to thermal expansion and contraction, causing secondary damage. Wet compress method: Dip a towel in an appropriate amount of pure water, until there is no dripping, and apply it to the red and swollen area for about 10 minutes each time. During this period, you can add pure water to keep it moist. You can apply wet compress several times a day, which can effectively relieve the symptoms of swelling, redness and fever.

Step 2: Hydrate and moisturize

Tip 1: Apply aloe vera cream. Apply an appropriate amount of aloe vera cream to the sunburned area. The refreshing texture of the gel will not aggravate the swelling of the skin, but can also play a protective and moisturizing role. It can be applied multiple times. Tip 2: Apply cold compress to watermelon rind. Place the clean watermelon rind after removing the red flesh in the refrigerator and freeze it for 1 hour. After taking it out, cut the watermelon rind into thin slices and stick them on the sunburned area. This can replenish water well, and the rich vitamins in the watermelon rind can effectively play a calming and anti-inflammatory role. After the inflammation of sunburned skin is reduced, you can also use moisturizing masks, skin care lotions, etc. to replenish the skin.

Sunburn aftercare tips

Avoid washing sunburned areas with hot water; avoid massaging and rubbing sunburned areas; consider whitening and repairing after moisturizing; do not use cosmetics on sunburned areas; try not to eat spicy or fried foods; wear loose and soft cotton clothing; do a good job of physical sun protection to prevent further damage to the skin. If the skin begins to peel, use a pair of sterilized scissors to carefully cut away the detached epidermis. Never pull or tear the detached skin. If the sunburn persists for more than 3 days or if there are signs of deterioration, you should visit the dermatology department of a hospital promptly.
