What is the best retinol essence? What are the side effects of long-term application of retinol?

As women age, their skin's ability to absorb skin care products weakens. At this time, we need to use it together with essence to promote better absorption of skin care products. Choosing a serum containing retinol is very suitable for mature skin. So are there any side effects of applying retinol?

Retinol belongs to the vitamin A acid family. As a preferred ingredient for anti-aging, whitening and brightening the skin tone of mature skin, here are some retinol essences that I have personally tested and found to be effective.

What retinol serum is good?

1. Topix Replenix Green Tea Polyphenol Retinol Serum

The main ingredients are retinol, caffeine, and green tea polyphenols. Mainly anti-oxidation, anti-wrinkle and brightening effects. Because green tea polyphenols are added, it is more suitable for combination and oily skin.

2. INNO Retinol Anti-Aging Essence

3. Murad Retinol Facial Serum

The main ingredients are retinol, Indian Swertia extract, and hyaluronic acid microspheres. It mainly smoothes fine lines, tightens the skin, and locks in moisture. It has a creamy texture, which is delicate and easy to spread. It’s not as irritating as other retinol serums and is suitable for sensitive skin.

4. Shiseido Retinol Essence

The main ingredient is retinol. Mainly anti-wrinkle and improve fine lines. Known as the "anti-wrinkle radar", it has a lotion texture and is neither oily nor drying. When you squeeze it out, you can see tiny microcapsule beads, which will burst if you rub them. Recommended for dry skin and combination skin.

Side effects of long-term use of retinol

First, it may cause symptoms of peeling, but peeling symptoms usually only occur when people use retinol for the first time, and will not reappear if retinol is used later. When peeling symptoms appear, just stop using the product for about two or three days and the symptoms will disappear automatically.

Second, it is sensitive to light. If you apply retinol during the day without a high enough level of sun protection, you will get sunburned in plateau areas or places with strong ultraviolet rays. Because of this, it is generally recommended that you apply retinol at night.

By the way, I would like to remind you that even if they are all retinol products, the amount of retinol they contain varies significantly. If you are sensitive to retinol, it is recommended that you choose products with lower content.

Through analysis, everyone knows where the side effects of long-term application of retinol lie. Precisely because it still has some side effects, you must not use it for a long time or in large quantities, otherwise it will cause greater harm to yourself.
