Can vitamin B5 be taken for a long time?

The health of the human body is inseparable from the timely replenishment of various nutrients, and also from the necessary vitamins. Under normal circumstances, we can meet the body's nutritional needs through daily diet. So, let’s talk about whether vitamin B5 can be taken for a long time?

Can vitamin B5 be taken for a long time?

B vitamins are water-soluble, and excess B vitamins will not be stored in the human body, so they should be supplemented every day. There is a synergistic effect between the B vitamins, which means that taking all the B vitamins at once is more effective than taking them separately. So don't take vitamin B5 blindly. There are more than twelve kinds of B vitamins, and nine of them are unanimously recognized by the world. All of them are water-soluble vitamins. They only stay in the body for a few hours and must be supplemented every day.

Vitamin B supplementation precautions

1. Long-term and excessive use of vitamins B1, B6, B12, etc. may cause adverse reactions such as headache, fatigue, irritability, dizziness, loss of appetite, diarrhea, edema, arrhythmia, etc. Some may even cause allergic reactions, especially injections. Patients may experience urticaria, bronchial asthma, etc. In severe cases, blood pressure may drop and anaphylactic shock may occur, which is life-threatening.

2. Vitamin B3 helps dilate blood vessels, increase blood flow, and is also related to energy conversion. The recommended intake for adults is 20 mg per day. People with a normal diet do not need to take additional vitamin B3. A slight excess of vitamin B3 can cause redness of the face and shoulders, headaches, itching and stomach problems, while a severe excess can cause mouth ulcers, diabetes and liver damage.

3. Vitamin B5 is mainly involved in the body's metabolic activities. The recommended intake for adults is 4 to 7 mg per day. People with a normal diet do not need to take additional B5. Although no studies have shown that excessive vitamin B5 has any side effects in humans, it can cause liver damage in mice.
