Speaking of corns, this is a skin disease that can be seen in daily life. Many friends feel confused and troubled because of corns. Many friends have also had corns, but they don’t understand what exactly is going on. So what causes corns? Let me introduce it to you below.

What causes corns?

Generally speaking, people who walk frequently and stand for long periods of time are prone to corns, among which compression and friction are very important causes. Some patients like to wear tight high heels, which can easily cause friction and squeezing. In addition, foot deformities can easily cause the stratum corneum to thicken, pushing inward and creating a conical keratin structure with the tip pointing inward. Therefore, many friends easily suffer severe pain when walking. If corns occur on the soles of the feet, they need to be carefully identified. Corns can be treated conservatively, such as with corrosive agents, or with topical corn ointment. If the corns are large and stubborn, they can also be treated surgically. The main reason is that the walking posture has been incorrect for a long time, resulting in local compression. Also, worn shoes are harder and more susceptible to squeezing and friction.

How to remove corns

Corns are a keratin hyperplasia disease that is more common in adults. They usually occur in areas of the foot that are prone to friction and pressure. They manifest as light yellow or dark yellow keratin hyperplasia with a core in the center. Pain may occur when walking, exercising, or wearing shoes. Depending on the size, location, and severity of the corns, different treatments can be chosen:

First, drug treatment, external application of corn ointment, 10% or 15% salicylic acid ointment, or 40% urea ointment. Generally, the dressing should be changed every 3-5 days and can be used repeatedly until the corn is cleared;

Second, liquid nitrogen cryotherapy. Small and superficial corns can be cured through multiple liquid nitrogen cryotherapy. Pain and blisters may occur after each freezing treatment, and the treatment is usually repeated every two weeks until the corns completely disappear;

Third, carbon dioxide laser treatment is performed without anesthesia, guided by the patient's pain sensation. If the patient feels pain during treatment, the treatment should be stopped, but the treatment can be repeated several times until the corns disappear. Carbon dioxide laser treatment has the advantages of short operation time, small wound surface, and easy healing;

Fourth, surgical treatment: For larger and more serious corns, surgical removal under local anesthesia can be considered;

Fifth, electrocautery. This treatment method causes greater damage, takes a longer time to heal, and has a higher recurrence rate, so it is generally rarely used.

What causes corns? This is just a brief introduction for you. Once corns are confirmed, treatment must be sought actively and the condition must not be delayed, as this may seriously affect walking. , and even affect the patient's daily life and cause great trouble, which is not worth it.
