Is it useful to apply toothpaste on acne? Don't use toothpaste as a folk remedy for anti-inflammatory

Getting rid of acne is the wish of many girls. One or two pimples on an originally smooth face is really unsightly. From ancient times to the present, people have come up with many ways to "fight acne." Using toothpaste as treatment is one of them. So, does applying toothpaste on acne really work?

Does toothpaste work on acne?

It may have some effect. Toothpaste contains anti-inflammatory factors that can relieve acne inflammation. Generally speaking, pimples on the forehead are large and red, and they hurt when touched with your hands. Using toothpaste can temporarily relieve the redness and swelling and speed up the disappearance of acne. For some inflammatory acne caused by getting angry, applying toothpaste on the acne for one night has a certain heat-clearing and anti-inflammatory effect.

However, in the long run, this approach is not worth promoting. Because our skin is relatively fragile, toothpaste contains a large amount of alkaline substances, which can cause wrinkles or dryness on the skin. So it’s okay to use this anti-inflammatory method occasionally, but it should never be used frequently.

Toothpaste has a certain anti-inflammatory effect on a few diseases

In daily life, if our skin is accidentally injured and there is no suitable hemostatic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic medicine to use, at this time, we can apply common toothpaste on the surface of the wound. Doing so can have a good anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.

Similarly, if people get burned, they can also apply toothpaste on the wound. This can relieve the pain of the wound and inhibit the wound from worsening because some ingredients in toothpaste can have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and bacterial inhibitory effects. Toothpaste is also effective for another disease, that is, women's mild vaginitis. When suffering from this disease, toothpaste is also used to relieve inflammation.

Don't use toothpaste as a folk remedy to reduce inflammation

Although toothpaste has many functions, its use is also very limited. Generally speaking, if the patient is scratched or burned by foreign objects, if the symptoms are severe or the wound is large, toothpaste cannot be used to reduce inflammation. At this time, what should be done is to disinfect the wound with anti-inflammatory solutions or alcohol. Then use ice or a cold towel for cold compress. Of course, the best way to deal with it is to go to the hospital immediately for systematic treatment.

Therefore, although toothpaste can treat some mild wound inflammations, if the situation is more serious, you cannot use folk remedies indiscriminately. You still need to use professional disinfectants to reduce inflammation, and then go to the hospital for a systematic treatment as soon as possible. Avoid spicy and irritating foods during the recovery stage in the future, which will be more conducive to recovery.
