Symptoms of chloasma 1. Clinical manifestations are more common in women, especially those of childbearing age, but can also occur in men. The lesions are often distributed symmetrically on the face, mainly on the zygomatic regions, cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin, and generally do not involve the eyelids and oral mucosa. It manifests as light brown to dark brown pigmented spots with clear edges or diffuse appearance, with no local inflammation or scaling, and no subjective symptoms. Its pigment may change slightly with endocrine changes, sun exposure and other factors. Some patients may stop taking contraceptives after giving birth.
