What is dry skin and why do I have closed comedones?

Dry skin is also a type of skin that many people have seen, but don’t you know much about it? What is dry skin? Why do you keep your mouth shut?

What is dry skin

Dry skin, that is, dry skin. The most obvious characteristics are: low sebum secretion, dry, fair and dull skin, small and inconspicuous pores, and easy formation of fine wrinkles; capillaries are shallow, easy to rupture, and are more sensitive to external stimuli. If your skin is dry, tight, has low sebum secretion, lacks radiance, and occasionally flakes, then you have typical dry skin.

Why does dry skin have closed comedones?

1. Lack of water

This is indeed the most critical reason for closed comedones on dry skin. When the skin is in a dry state for a long time, the metabolism will slow down, and the fine dust in the air or the aging stratum corneum will accumulate on the surface of the skin, which may cause a large number of closed comedones on the cheeks, especially the lower eye area which is prone to dryness.

2. Exposure

The reason why overexposure to the sun causes so many problems is that it causes ultraviolet rays to irritate the skin, causing skin aging, a decline in various functions, and worse skin's absorption capacity, making it easy to get acne, spots, and closed comedones.

3. Improper cleaning

Improper cleaning can be either over-cleaning or insufficient cleaning. Excessive cleansing will damage the cortical layer, causing a lack of oil in the cortical layer and abnormal metabolism. Without the protection of the cortical layer, the skin will become dehydrated, and closed comedones will form over time. If the cleaning force is not strong enough, cosmetics and dirt in the air will remain on the surface of the skin, clogging the pores, preventing the skin from breathing and causing closed pores.

4. Excessive sugar intake

Sugar stimulates the production of male hormones and promotes oil secretion. The hyperplasia and hypertrophy of the sebaceous glands will secrete a large amount of high-quality sebum, making it difficult to remove the oil on the skin surface, thus clogging the pores. The metabolism of sugar will consume a large amount of vitamin B, which will also make the skin rough and reduce the ability of cell renewal. The combination of the two will lead to the outbreak of closed comedones.

5. Lack of vitamins

Both vitamin B and vitamin A play a major role in skin metabolism. If the content of both is insufficient, metabolism will slow down, the growth of new cells will become slow, and there will be no mature new cells to replace old cells. Aged cells will remain on the skin, clogging the pores and causing closed pores.

6. Hormone influence

Whether it is cosmetics, medicines or other products, if it causes an excess of male hormones in the body and disrupts the balance of estrogen and androgen, it will lead to the occurrence of closed comedones.

That’s all about dry skin. Now you know why you have closed comedones!
