How to use cold towel to treat bloodshot contact lenses

Contact lenses are liked by many people as they can make you look more beautiful. But what should you do if your eyes become congested when wearing contact lenses?

What to do if you have congestion when wearing contact lenses

1. Stop using

If the bloodshot eyes are caused by corneal hypoxia due to long-term wearing of contact lenses, it is best to stop using contact lenses and switch to frame glasses to correct your vision. At the same time, reduce the time of using your eyes. This will allow the eyeballs to get enough rest and the bloodshot will naturally disappear slowly.

2. Reduce wearing time

If contact lenses are worn for too long, the cornea will easily develop red blood streaks due to long-term lack of oxygen. Therefore, it is best not to wear contact lenses for more than 8 hours a day, and you should wear frame glasses at least two days a week. Alternating between wearing contact lenses and frame glasses can effectively relieve congestion in the eyes.

3. Use eye drops

If the contact lenses are not thoroughly disinfected and sterilized, and the protein and other deposits on the lenses are not removed, it can cause eye infections and congestion in the eyes. If the situation is not serious, you can use appropriate anti-inflammatory eye drops. And in order to prevent the condition from worsening, it is best not to wear contact lenses until the eyes have completely recovered.

4. Cleaning of eyes

When people wear contact lenses, dust, bacteria, chemicals and other substances from the outside may enter the lenses and cause red bloodshot eyes. At this time, the wearer should remove the contact lenses, rinse the eyes with clean water, and then drop 1-2 drops of eye drops to alleviate the red bloodshot phenomenon.

5. Cold towel eye compress

When your eyes become congested, you can apply a cold towel to your eyes. Because a cold towel can stimulate the eye to constrict blood vessels, it can relieve eye pressure and relax the skin around the eyes, which can reduce local blood volume and remove red blood. Therefore, applying a cold towel to the face can relieve eye congestion.

6. Seek medical attention promptly

Because the lenses of contact lenses are not clean, it will cause severe eye hypoxia, corneal epithelial abrasions, and corneal inflammation. The eyes will become allergic or infected, and then acute congestion will occur. At this time, the contact lenses need to be removed. In order to find the cause of the disease, it is best to go to the hospital to find a professional ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment.

This is an introduction to how to deal with congestion caused by wearing contact lenses. It is better to wear them less often.
