The value of rose essential oil depends on its concentration, origin, and variety. At the same time, if it is not 100% pure rose essential oil, its price also depends on the price of its blending materials. Currently, the only high-quality 100% pure rose essential oil available on the domestic market should be the Otto rose essential oil imported from Bulgaria. It has 100% purity and has origin advantages that other roses do not have. The rose essential oil mentioned in radiotherapy usually refers to this type of essential oil.

What is the appropriate concentration of rose essential oil?

Rose essential oil can be added directly to base oil. Some cream products with essential oils on the market are made by adding essential oils, but you should pay attention to the proportion.

The percentage of essential oil and massage oil can be between 1%-3%. If you are preparing aromatic massage oil for the face or sensitive skin, 0.5%-1% is appropriate. A percentage of 0.5% is approximately 1 drop of essential oil added to 2 teaspoons (equal to 10 ml) of base oil, and a percentage of 1% is approximately 1 drop of essential oil added to 1 teaspoon of base oil.

If used for body massage, the ideal ratio of essential oil to base oil is about 2%, which means adding 2 drops of essential oil to every 1 teaspoon of base oil. If it is for medical purposes, the essential oil concentration can be increased to 3%, that is, add 3 drops of essential oil to every 1 teaspoon of base oil.

The percentage of dilution of essential oils into base oils, that is, the concentration of aromatic massage oils, also has a simple conversion method:

1% aromatic massage oil: 1 drop of essential oil + 1 teaspoon of base oil (5 ml)

3 drops of essential oil + 1 tablespoon of carrier oil (15 ml)

2% aromatic massage oil: 2 drops of essential oil + 1 teaspoon of base oil (5 ml)

6 drops of essential oil + 1 tablespoon of carrier oil (15 ml)

3% aromatic massage oil: 3 drops of essential oil + 1 teaspoon of base oil (5 ml)

9 drops of essential oil + 1 tablespoon of carrier oil (15 ml)

Each time you add carrier oil to an empty bottle, you must leave a little space to prevent the carrier oil or essential oil from overflowing the bottle. For example, if an empty essential oil bottle has a capacity of 30 ml, then only add 25 ml of base oil to the empty bottle, and then add essential oil, which is about 12-15 drops of essential oil.

After all the essential oils are added to the base oil, tighten the bottle cap, shake it thoroughly, open the bottle cap, drop a small drop on your hand, smell its fragrance, then drop it on the back of your hand, wipe it, and smell it again. Just like perfume, the scent will be different when it is diffused in the air and when it is applied on your skin. Therefore, after the essential oils and base oils are mixed, you must smell them. If you are not satisfied with the smell or strength, you can make some corrections, such as adding other essential oils, or increasing the amount of base oil, etc., until you are satisfied.
