Is acne on the face a detoxification? You will understand after reading this

Many people asked me what is the reason for the sudden breakout of acne on my face? Some people say that the body is detoxifying, so let me analyze it in detail below.

Is acne breakouts on the face a sign of detoxification?

Teacher, how do I detoxify the skin on my face? Who told you to detox your skin? Isn't it said that acne is caused by toxins on the face, so to get rid of acne you need to detoxify first? Did you poison yourself?

What is skin poison?

The concept of "detoxification" has become widespread. People with acne need to detoxify, people with hormone-induced facial problems need to detoxify, and the cosmetics you usually use contain excessive amounts of lead and mercury, so they must be detoxified. In short, there are many toxins remaining in your body, and only by detoxifying them can you feel relaxed...

The term detoxification comes from traditional Chinese medicine. The "poison" here refers to the toxins accumulated in the internal organs such as blood stasis, phlegm, cold, food accumulation, and qi stagnation.

The so-called "detoxification" method of the human body is mainly through decomposition by the liver and excretion through urine. Unless there is something wrong with these systems, and it is a big problem, it is impossible for there to be many toxins in your body.

The skin is mainly used to protect the body, sweat, sense cold and heat and pressure, and protect various tissues and organs in the body from external invasion. The concept of skin detoxification only mentions the promotion of anti-inflammation, metabolism, etc. This process has nothing to do with "detoxification" at all.

Theoretically speaking, the "toxins" in the skin are not truly toxic. In most cases, they are some oxidized sebum plugs, precipitated melanin, and dull complexion caused by poor blood and lymphatic circulation.

I just bought a set of skin care products. After using them for a few days, a lot of small pimples appeared on my face, and it became red and itchy. The person selling the products said that this was a detoxification reaction because the previous toxins remained in the skin. Now it is doing a deep cleansing and then conditioning the skin to restore its normal mechanism. Is this true?

Firstly, deep cleansing and exfoliation will reduce the stratum corneum, and excessive massage will cause inflammation. In addition, if the skin is not adapted to the new products used, sensitivity is likely. This has the same thing as acclimatization, and has nothing to do with "poison".

If it is simply redness, it may be "sensitivity", but if acne or swelling occurs for a long time, it can basically be considered an allergy. At this time, it cannot be explained by the word "detoxification". You should stop using all products, go to the dermatology department of the hospital, and use topical and oral medications regularly.

I had a lot of acne breakouts after using an acne removal product, but eventually the breakouts healed and my skin got better. Does this mean that "detoxification is effective"?

When using skin care products containing ingredients such as fruit acid, salicylic acid, retinol, or taking the drug retinoic acid, acne may first break out and then improve. This process does not need to be explained with vague terms like "detoxification."

Dermatologists believe that these ingredients can loosen the keratin, which may temporarily clog the hair follicles and aggravate acne, but with continued use, the skin will eventually adjust to a better state.

So if you are using these acne-removing products purposefully, you don’t have to give up just because of temporary breakouts.

If you want to improve symptoms such as dullness, acne, and aging, you should focus on basic maintenance and do a good job of daily cleaning, hydration, etc.

Don’t always hold on to the mentality of “there are always villains who want to harm me” and think about detoxification all day long. You are not using yourself to raise the Gu, so where do all the toxins come from?
