The harm of soap-based facial cleansers. How to distinguish soap-based facial cleansers?

70% depends on cleaning and 30% depends on maintenance. In the complicated skin care routine, washing your face is the most important step, but a good facial cleanser is particularly important. But do you know that if you keep using soap-based facial cleansers, it will cause damage to your skin.

The harm of soap-based facial cleansers

Soap-based facial cleansers are highly alkaline. If the skin is in an alkaline environment for a long time, it will disrupt the normal secretion of sebum, make the skin alkaline, weaken the skin's natural metabolic ability, and cause the skin to become rough and sensitive. Soap-based cleansing will remove excessive oil from the skin's surface, which will make the skin refreshed in the short term, but will leave it dry and tight afterwards. When the skin's own function senses dryness, it will activate its self-defense ability and produce a large amount of oil, which will cause enlarged skin pores.

The correct way to use facial cleanser

First wet your entire face with warm water. The water temperature should be around 36°, close to the body's temperature, which can relax the pores. Lather the cleanser thoroughly. If the cleanser is not foamy, you can use a foaming net. Apply the foam on your face, first on your chin and nose, and gently massage in circles about ten times. Massage from the inside to the outside, and apply the foam to a large area of your cheeks and massage in circles with your fingertips. Clean the foam with warm water and wipe off the water droplets with a towel.

How to distinguish soap alkali formula facial cleanser

1. The outer packaging should be marked with words such as [soap-free/non-soap base].

2. The soap formula is formed by the chemical reaction of [fatty acids] and [alkali agents]. The key is to look at the ingredient list, be responsible for your own skin, and avoid skin care product minefields.

Common fatty acids and alkalis

Common fatty acids: myristic acid, lauric acid, hexadecanoic acid, palmitic acid, octadecanoic acid, stearic acid;

Common alkalis: sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, triethanolamine, AMP.

When a facial cleanser contains both fatty acids and alkalis, it is a soap-based facial cleanser! For example, potassium hydroxide myristate, this combination is the most typical soap alkali formula.
