1. What does sunscreen protect against?

To put it simply, it is what we often call UV protection. Ultraviolet rays are classified into UVA, UVB, and UVC. Among them, UVA can penetrate everything, destroy elastic fibers and collagen fibers, tan the skin, and is the culprit for our tanning! UVB ultraviolet rays have an erythema effect on the human body and can promote mineral metabolism and the formation of vitamin D in the body, but long-term or excessive exposure will make the skin sunburned and cause symptoms such as redness, swelling, blisters, and peeling.

2. What is the difference between physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreen?

Physical sunscreen : reflects ultraviolet rays through physical principles. It mainly contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Pure physical sunscreen is safe and non-irritating, and is more suitable for sensitive skin. But the general texture is slightly thicker and more moisturizing, and some are even whitish.

Chemical sunscreen : dissipates the energy of absorbed ultraviolet rays in the form of heat. The general texture is more moist and light.

3. What are SPF and PA?

SPF refers to the sun protection factor, which is the time it takes to prevent skin from sunburn and redness. The higher the SPF index, the longer the protection time. Sun protection time = SPF (value 15, 30, 50...) * 10. Generally speaking, SPF15-30 is sufficient for daily use, and SPF50 is recommended for long-term outdoor sports.

PA is the skin's sun protection and aging index. It blocks UVA (long-wave ultraviolet rays that cause dark spots and can reach the dermis, which is the culprit of skin aging). PA+, general protection, about 4 hours; PA++, strong protection, about 8 hours; PA+++, super strong protection, about 12 hours.

4. How to protect sensitive skin from the sun?

If you have sensitive skin, acne-prone skin, dermatitis and other problems , sun protection is very necessary. But sun protection here does not only refer to sunscreen. To be on the safe side, I still recommend using physical sun protection methods, such as sun umbrellas, masks, hats, sunglasses, etc.
