How long is the shelf life of sunscreen? How to store sunscreen

When I was packing up a few days ago, I found a bottle of sunscreen that I hadn't used. I don't know if it has expired. How long is the shelf life of sunscreen generally? Can it still be used if it has expired?

How long is the shelf life of sunscreen?

The shelf life of sunscreen is generally three to five years. Although there are many brands of sunscreen and the shelf life of sunscreen produced by each brand is different, the shelf life of unopened sunscreen on the market is generally three to five years, while the shelf life of opened sunscreen is six months to one year. The expiration date is usually marked on the bottle of sunscreen.

Sunscreen can generally be used for about a year, but many people cannot finish a bottle of sunscreen in a year, and it would be a pity to throw it away directly. In fact, it can be used to apply it on the hands and feet of the body.

Can I still use sunscreen after its expiration date?

Expired sunscreen cannot be used even if it is unopened. Some ingredients in expired sunscreen may have begun to deteriorate. The skin on our face is very fragile than the skin on other parts of the body, so unopened sunscreen cannot be used.

How to store sunscreen

If you use your sunscreen frequently, you can just keep it at normal room temperature. However, it should be noted that sunscreen cannot be exposed to the sun. It is best to store it in a cool place.

After we use sunscreen, we should remember to cover it with a cap. Because if we don't do this, the sunscreen will easily react with some substances in the air and affect the quality of the sunscreen. If we use this type of sunscreen frequently, it can easily cause damage to our skin.

If it is unopened sunscreen, it is recommended that you put it in the refrigerator. Generally, the shelf life of sunscreen is two to three years.

Does sunscreen need to be stored away from light?

If oil-based skin care products are kept in a low temperature state for a long time, oil and water separation will occur, the texture will become rough, the shape will diverge, and they may even lose their skin care effects and cause irritation to the skin. Therefore, do not expose products such as facial cleansers, cleansing creams, day creams, night creams, functional creams, etc. to direct sunlight. Just keep them in a cool, dark place to ensure product quality.
