Why flaxseed has anti-inflammatory effects

Why flaxseed has anti-inflammatory effects

Flaxseed is an organic food. Some women with skin inflammation and damaged skin barrier will find that skin inflammation improves after taking flaxseed. What is the principle behind this? Can flaxseed fight inflammation?

Why flaxseed has anti-inflammatory effects

Because flaxseed is rich in alpha-linolenic acid. Its effect on lipid inflammatory mediators is: when inflammation occurs, arachidonic acid AA on the cell membrane, under the action of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, produces a series of physiologically active lipid mediators. It mainly includes prostaglandin PGE2 and leukotriene LT4, which cause inflammatory response.

EPA, the metabolite of α-linolenic acid, is a homologue of AA. It produces prostaglandins PGE3 and LT5 by competing with the same enzyme system. Leukotriene LT5 inhibits the production of PGE2 and LT4. Compared with PGE2 and LT4, PGE3 and LT5 have almost no effect on inflammatory activity. Therefore, α-linolenic acid in the body has a good anti-inflammatory effect.

What to do if your skin is inflamed

1. Pay attention to cleanliness. Cleansing is the first step to relieving facial skin inflammation. Ordinary water is not used for cleaning here. Instead, boiled water is used, which is then allowed to cool naturally before being used to cleanse the facial skin. When washing, it is best to use a cotton towel that has been scalded with boiling water.

2. Do not use your hands or other sharp objects to pierce the inflamed area. No matter how clean you wash your hands, they still have many germs on them. Scratching with your hands or pricking the inflamed area with a needle or other sharp objects will cause more bacteria to invade the inflamed area, aggravating the redness and swelling.

3. Apply anti-inflammatory ointment with a cotton swab. Anti-inflammatory ointment must be applied, which will make the red and swollen areas on the face recover faster. When applying, never use your hands, because there are many bacteria on your hands that are invisible to the naked eye.

4. Reduce fat intake. With less fat intake, the facial skin will not secrete as much oil, so it is best to eat light food on a daily basis and drink plenty of water to help metabolism in the body.

5. Wear a dust mask. When you go out or go to a dusty place, remember to bring a pure cotton medical dust mask or face mask. Prevent bacteria and dust in the air from falling onto inflamed areas on the face and aggravating the symptoms of inflammation.

6. Don’t use cosmetics. Don't use concealers to cover up inflamed facial skin. Cosmetics contain a lot of substances that are irritating to the skin. Your skin is already inflamed, and using cosmetics will only make it more inflamed.

The above is the answer to whether flaxseed can really fight inflammation. I hope the above content is helpful to you.
