Is ISDIN sunscreen a physical or chemical sunscreen?

Is ISDIN sunscreen a physical or chemical sunscreen?

ISDIN sunscreen is a very popular sunscreen, and its reputation has always been very good. Sunscreen is divided into physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreen. So, does using ISDIN sunscreen belong to physical sunscreen or chemical sunscreen?

Is ISDIN sunscreen a physical or chemical sunscreen?

ISDIN is a sunscreen that combines physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreen. Because the sunscreen ingredient of ISDIN is a combination of a physical sunscreen (titanium dioxide) and three cosmetic sunscreens (ethylhexyl triazone, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, and ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate), ISDIN is considered a sunscreen that combines physical and chemical sunscreen.

How to distinguish physical sunscreen from chemical sunscreen

You can identify it mainly by looking at the ingredients. If it only contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it is a pure physical sunscreen. If it does not contain titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it is a pure chemical sunscreen. If it contains other ingredients besides titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it is a physical + chemical mixed sunscreen.

The difference between physical sunscreen and chemical sunscreen

1. Sun protection methods

Chemical sunscreen absorbs harmful UV rays, while physical sunscreen reflects and blocks harmful UV rays.

2. Location

Chemical sunscreens are located inside the skin, while physical sunscreens are located outside the skin.

3. Usage experience

Chemical sunscreen feels refreshing and natural and needs to be applied 15-30 minutes before going out. Physical sunscreen will start to reflect UV rays after application, but it is thick and white.

4. Effect

Chemical sunscreen needs to be reapplied frequently. In this respect, physical sunscreen is better than chemical sunscreen, but chemical sunscreen is easier to spread and generally has a refreshing texture so the skin does not feel heavy after application. The disadvantage is that it has poor photostability and needs to be reapplied for skin absorption. It cannot take effect immediately and is suitable for oily skin and combination skin. Physical sunscreen puts less burden on the skin, has a wider sun protection spectrum, and has stronger sun protection ability. Its disadvantage is that the particles are relatively large, it looks white on the skin, and the price is generally higher. It is suitable for dry skin, sensitive skin, and acne skin.

5. Ingredients

If it only contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it is pure physical sunscreen. If it does not contain titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it is a pure chemical sunscreen. If it contains other ingredients besides titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, it is a physical + chemical mixed sunscreen. So it seems that ISDIN sunscreen should be a chemical sunscreen.
