Do I need to apply sunscreen when the UV rays are between 0 and 2?

Ultraviolet rays are very harmful, so many people buy sunscreen to protect themselves against them. So, at what level of UV factor do you need to apply sunscreen? Do I need to apply sunscreen for UV rays 0-2?

Do I need to apply sunscreen for UV 0-2?

It depends on the specific situation. Ultraviolet 0-2 is level one, which means the amount of ultraviolet rays in solar radiation is the smallest and has basically no effect on the human body. If you are outdoors for a short time or indoors, you generally don't need to apply sunscreen. Of course, for people who stay outdoors for a long time, it is best to apply sunscreen even if the amount of UV rays is very small. In addition, the chances of having zero ultraviolet rays are actually rare, and it is difficult to distinguish ultraviolet light data simply by relying on human perception. There is ultraviolet light even on cloudy days. To be on the safe side, it is better to insist on using sunscreen. If you feel that applying sunscreen is troublesome and do not want to apply special sunscreen every day, when the ultraviolet rays are low, you can choose to use a moisturizer with a sun protection factor to protect your facial skin.

UV rays above which level should sunscreen be applied

You should use sunscreen if your sunscreen is level 3 or above. Ultraviolet intensity is generally expressed in 0-15. It is generally stipulated that the UV index at night is 0. In tropical or plateau areas and when the sky is clear and cloudless, the UV rays are strongest, with an index of 15. The larger the UV index value, the greater the harm of ultraviolet radiation to the human body, and the greater the damage to the skin in a shorter period of time. Sometimes the UV index can be divided into 5 levels, namely:

1. When the value is 0, 1, or 2, the UV forecast level is level 1, which is usually cloudy or rainy, indicating that the amount of UV in solar radiation is minimal and has little effect on the human body;

2. When the UV index is 3 or 4, the UV forecast level is level 2, which is generally cloudy weather, indicating that the amount of UV in solar radiation is relatively low and has little impact on the human body;

3. When the UV index is 5 or 6, the UV forecast level is level 3, which is generally a light cloudy day, indicating that the UV radiation is of moderate intensity and has a certain degree of damage to human skin;

4. When the UV index is 7, 8, or 9, the UV forecast level is level 4, which is mostly sunny in summer. It means that the UV radiation is strong and harmful to the human body, so you should take precautions. When going out, you should wear a sun hat, sunglasses, or a parasol, and you can also apply some sunscreen (SPF index should be greater than 15).

5. When the UV index is ≥10, the UV forecast level is level 5, indicating that the UV radiation is the strongest and poses the greatest harm to the human body. People should reduce their time outdoors (especially around noon) or take active protective measures.

What are the ways to prevent UV rays?

1. Sunscreen. If you are outdoors, wear sunscreen. If you are swimming in the beach, applying it once is not enough. Even if the sunscreen is waterproof, you should reapply the sunscreen immediately.

2. Even on cloudy days, it is still recommended to apply sunscreen. If applying sunscreen is a hassle and you don't want to apply a dedicated sunscreen every day, buy a daily moisturizer with an SPF to protect your facial skin.

3. Sunglasses can not only prevent the sun's glare, but also protect your eyes from ultraviolet rays. So don’t just wear them when you’re driving or at the beach, wear sunglasses whenever you go out.
