The specific clinical manifestations of cheilitis are dry lips, chapped lips and desquamation. Because its incidence rate is getting higher and higher, seriously affecting people's health and life, so cheilitis must be treated in time. So how do you treat cheilitis?

Cheilitis may be caused by dry climate or the bad habit of licking your lips. It is recommended to wash your lips with normal saline every day, then apply erythromycin ointment or lip balm, and take oral anti-inflammatory drugs under the guidance of a doctor. You need to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, wear a mask when going out to prevent your lips from being cracked by the wind, and do not lick your lips with your tongue. It is best not to eat spicy food, irritating food, or food that causes heatiness.

Nowadays, people live at a much faster pace. Coupled with environmental influences, the incidence of cheilitis is getting higher and higher, seriously affecting everyone's health and life. Especially in autumn and winter, the body's water is easily lost and the symptoms of cheilitis are more obvious. So how do you treat cheilitis? The best treatment for cheilitis is to adopt a corresponding plan according to its type.

1. Use lip balm.

Whether you are a boy or a girl, you should use lip balm to protect your lips when they are chapped and peeling. As for lip balm, try to choose colorless lip balm with less irritating ingredients. For patients with allergic cheilitis, it is recommended to apply lipstick on the lips with a cotton swab.

2. Apply licorice juice.

Patients with cheilitis need to go to the pharmacy to buy two yuan of licorice, boil the juice with clean water, filter out the residue, boil the juice into a paste, and finally put it in a small bottle and apply it on the lips.

3. Drug treatment.

If it is desquamative cheilitis, you need to apply antibiotic ointment on the lips, or apply chloramphenicol eye ointment; for erosive cheilitis, clean the local area with gauze with disinfectant and anti-inflammatory liquid and apply ointment after scab forms.

4. Systemic treatment.

Oral vitamins: Vitamin A can reduce the desquamation of the lip mucosa; but vitamin B can promote the growth of the mucosa to a certain extent.

Oral hormones: If local treatment is not effective, you can take some hormone drugs for treatment.

Antibiotics: To avoid the side effects of hormones, patients are advised to choose antibacterial drugs such as metronidazole or minocycline.

Anti-allergic drugs: If patients with cheilitis are still allergic, they can take allergic drugs such as chlorpheniramine and loratadine.

There are four main methods for treating cheilitis. Mild symptoms can heal on their own, but recurring symptoms require treatment under the guidance of a doctor. To prevent the occurrence of cheilitis, you need to correct your usual bad habits; avoid excessive sunlight; get rid of bad habits such as licking your lips, biting your tongue, and biting your lips; in terms of diet, mainly eat light food, and it is best not to eat spicy and greasy food.
