Eye drops are a type of eye drops that can protect the eyes. Many people know about it. So what is the scientific method of using eye drops? Should I use eye drops with my eyes closed or open? The scientific method of eye drops 1. Don’t blink right after putting in eye drops Blinking right after putting eye drops in will not only irritate the cornea, but also easily squeeze out the drugs, increase the speed of drug excretion, and cause the drugs to be excreted through the nasolacrimal duct, reducing the actual amount of drugs. At the same time, if eye drops flow into the nose and mouth through the nasolacrimal duct, adverse reactions are likely to occur. Note: It is recommended to open your mouth when dripping to avoid blinking. 2. Keep eye drops suspended in the air Use your fingers to pull open the lower eyelid, look upward, and drop the medicine into the eyelid. It is best to drop it in mid-air to prevent the bottle mouth from touching the eye and causing infection. The best dosage is one drop each time. 3. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes after dripping After applying the medicine, gently lift the lower eyelid to match it with the upper eyelid so that the medicine is fully distributed in the conjunctival sac. Close your eyes and rest for 1-2 minutes. This can increase the contact time between the medicine and the eyeball and promote absorption of the medicine. But do not close your eyes forcefully to prevent the medicine from being squeezed out. 4. Appropriately compress the nasolacrimal duct at the inner corner of the eye After applying the medicine, press the inner corner of the eye immediately to prevent the medicine from flowing into the nose and mouth, which will cause the medicine that should be used locally in the eye to be absorbed systemically and produce adverse reactions. 5. Do not drop directly on the eyeball Directly dropping the drug onto the eyeball will irritate the cornea, causing increased blinking and thus causing the drug to flow out. In particular, some highly irritating eye drops should not be dropped directly onto the eyeball. Should I use eye drops with my eyes open or closed? You must close your eyes after putting in eye drops, but don't close them immediately, especially too forcefully. After putting the eye drops in, keep your eyes open and move your eyeballs slowly. After applying the drops, tilt your head back and turn your eyeballs to allow the eye drops to fully penetrate into your eyes and moisturize the entire eyeball. Then close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. If you close your eyes immediately, the medicine will flow back out and your eyes will not absorb much of the medicine. Especially if you close your eyes tightly, the medicine will be squeezed out more easily. You can blink normally two minutes after putting the eye drops in. |
