How to identify the authenticity of Meiji facial masks with official certification

In this era of online shopping craze, there are more and more counterfeit products, which cause harm to our bodies. Facial masks are supposed to make people more beautiful, but using fake ones may even disfigure you. So how can you tell whether a Meiji mask is real or fake? Why not find out now~

How to distinguish the authenticity of Meiji facial masks

color

The color of the genuine product is relatively light and bright, while the color of the fake product is dark and darker.

R mark

There is an R mark on the front trademark (MG’s trademark was successfully registered in 2011, and all previous TMs were replaced with R marks): the authentic products have an R mark on the upper right corner of the English word "MG", while the ones without English words but only the Chinese word "MG" have an R mark on the lower right corner of the word "MG", which the fake ones do not have.

Back text

On the back of the package, the text and pictures of the genuine Meiji mask are formatted from top to bottom, with the text in simplified Chinese; the format of the counterfeit version is left-right structure, with the text in a combination of Chinese and English. In addition, there is also a "Hong Kong version" of the Meiji mask. The text is indeed a combination of Chinese and English, but the Chinese characters are traditional Chinese.

Expiration date and batch number

The genuine product has “Batch number: 20110704, valid until: 20140704”; the fake product has “Valid until: July 2014” and “Batch number: 11·7·04” (the genuine product has an extra “until” in its valid date). The batch number and expiration date of genuine products are printed upright, while those of fake products may be printed upside down.

Net Content

The words "Net content: 25g" on the genuine product are some distance away from the sealing line, while the words on the fake product are basically close to the sealing line. Moreover, the genuine font is thin and clear, while the fake font is thicker and black.

QS mark

The genuine product has a small dot on the QS mark, the fake one does not, and the other one has an added “Excellent” mark. The QS logo of the genuine product is bluish purple (blue with some purple), while the fake one is pure blue. The barcode numbers on the genuine product are thin, while the numbers on the fake product are thick and black.

Height of tearing opening

The height of the real tear opening from the seal is lower, basically level with the top of "Net content: 25g"; the fake one is higher, much higher than the words "Net content: 25g", and the position of the fake "Net content: 25g" is also very low, next to the seal line.

Trademarks and closures

The fake trademark is printed on the seal, while the genuine trademark is some distance away from the seal line and does not connect or overlap.

Instructions for use

In the picture in the instructions for use, the skin of the real woman is light gray, while the fake one is dark gray.

Pass the inspection

The four words "Inspection Passed" at the bottom of the packaging are light gray on genuine products, different from the other words above; while on fake products, they are black, like the other printed words.

Mask paper thickness

The genuine mask paper is slightly thicker than the fake one.
