Does sunscreen harm the skin? Does sunscreen burden the skin?

Does sunscreen harm the skin? Does sunscreen burden the skin?

A question I'm often asked is still related to whether sunscreen is necessary: Is it worth it to put some "chemicals" (do you know how many people hate chemicals - of course, water is also a chemical) on my face to protect against UV rays? Let’s take a look together.

Does sunscreen harm the skin?

Sunscreen can block UV damage, but it will inevitably make the skin feel stuffy and the pores cannot breathe properly, so you need to carefully cleanse your skin every night with a special makeup remover or a facial cleanser that can remove light makeup. As long as you clean carefully, there is almost no harm from sunscreen. Otherwise, it will cause enlarged pores and rough skin.

Is sunscreen harmful to the skin?

There will be a certain burden. Some of the chemical sunscreens in sunscreen may penetrate into the skin. In order to spread the physical sunscreen and titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as evenly as possible on the skin surface, and to allow the chemical sunscreens to better dissolve in the formula and form a film after application, the "skin feel" of sunscreen is often not very good. For sensitive or inflamed skin, sticky sunscreen and the residue left after use can be quite challenging.

Sunscreen ingredients

The first category is physical sunscreens , which mainly include titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. So there is a second category, chemical sunscreen . Chemical sunscreens can be dissolved in water or oil. Their most important function is to form a uniform "sunscreen film" that covers the skin surface without leaving any dead corners, leaving the sun's ultraviolet rays defenseless.

Do I need to remove sunscreen?

Generally, you still need to remove makeup, just use ordinary facial cleanser to wash it off. Non-waterproof sunscreen does not require makeup removal, but waterproof sunscreen requires makeup removal. For the sake of good skin, it is recommended to remove makeup before going to bed. When you need to remove makeup after applying sunscreen, it is recommended to use makeup remover oil for dry skin, while makeup remover water is recommended for oily skin. If you feel that facial cleanser still cannot clean the skin thoroughly after using sunscreen (because of the high oil content), you can consider using some base oil first (note that it is not makeup remover oil, which contains a lot of surfactants and is irritating to the skin) to gently massage for no more than one minute, and then use deep cleansing (such as soap-based cleansing products, or even facial soap) to wash it off.
